Wearing color is easy and nowhere near as scary as it seems. Come over to the bright side!

It's everywhere. It has infiltrated stores, magazines and commercials. There's no escaping the color phenomenon for the fashion savvy girl. We all love black and white and the good news is you can still wear them .in moderation and to highlight your new colorful lust-haves. Color is the way of 2012 and here is how to wear it loud and proud.

Color Block is More Jewel Tones Than Lollipop

Pastels are cute. Bold color is hot! Bold, strong and loud tones are now. Think fiery red, punchy fuschia and deep greens. Any color that looks the tone of a jewel is bound to be now. Put the pastels down and step away from the fairyland wardrobe for a while. Opt for a more is more approach to shades, the brighter the better.

Color Your World..or Just a Corner of It

While color-on-color is everywhere, the less brave of us can start out with just one bright-colored item and build from there. Get with the trend even if you start with a scarf or purse. If you aren't up to full color-on-color team brights with denim or white. Think Tommy Hilfiger 2012 collection for some yummy yet understated color. We all love black, but let's keep it in the boardroom this season. If you absolutely must have black, let it be in small slashes that just keep your look together. As you build up a colorful wardrobe start experimenting with different looks and add further brights to your look.

Your Perfect Color

The good news.. most people look great in brights. However, if you're unsure whether a tone is for you try this trick when shopping. Hold the item up to your face. If it brings out your eyes, gives you a bit of a tan complexion or doesn't overpower your face it's a winner. If you feel overpowered by the color, your complexion seems gray against it, you feel like a clown or the salesperson has nothing positive to say, chances are that tone doesn't suit you. Pick another and start again. There is a shade of every color to suit everyone so keep trying.

The Hottest Colors for 2012

All color is good color at the moment but bright pink, blue, fuchsia, red and yellow seem to be taking a starring role across the fashion world, so keep this in mind. Blue teams up well with all shades of red, pink and fuchsia. Yellow is cool with blue and hot with red so take your pick!

Match Your Makeup

Color pop your way through summer or winter with strong shades. Lips are fun to experiment with so take out your neon bright coral, red or pink and don't be shy about slathering it on. If you aren't the color-slathering type of girl, give your most coveted shade a try at home. If it is too much for you blot the color onto a tissue and use a clear lipgloss over the finished product. Wahla.. perfect in-style color at your perfect intensity. Keep those lips moisturized to avoid bleeding or uneven color.

For a low maintenance face with your high impact wardrobe try a simple all over glow. Use an illuminating foundation, primer or skin brightener to give a sweet shine to your complexion. Add some bronzer to set off your jewel colored attire. If you aren't tanned don't despair, swap your bronzer for apricot blush to avoid that white skin with bronzer face that kind of looks like you smeared dirt on your face.

Accessorize for Half the Price

Great news, bakelite is back. Plastic is pretty and faux gems are the new jewels. There's never been a better time to buy costume jewelry. All the big fashion names are making beautiful colorful..and faux accessories. However, if you can't afford them, places like Diva and Collete are making amazing, wardrobe changing pieces too.
